A tetraploid bud sport of Wealthy producing larger fruits. Originated in the orchard of G.C. Smith & Sons, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The parent tree was planted in about 1909 and acquired in 1947 by New York Agricultural Experiment Station. Fruits have rather soft but juicy flesh with a sweet and faint vinous flavour.
