A sport of Cox's Orange Pippin having a darker red skin. Discovered by Mr Roed in Kjer's Orchard, Linved, Hjallese, Denmark in about 1942 and introduced to England in 1951 by High Weald Nurseries, Crowborough, Sussex. Fruits, like Cox's Orange Pippin, have a rich aromatic flavour.
